5 Morning Wellness Tips to Start Your Day the Right Way

Starting your day off in the right way should be a high priority when it comes to taking care of yourself, from eating a yummy but healthy breakfast to practicing your favourite wellness activities.

Approaching the day ahead with a positive attitude and an energised mind, body and spirit makes for a happy life but if you’re not much of a morning person, the idea of having to get up earlier than entirely necessary might seem a little unappealing. Mirror Work

Have you ever noticed that the rhetoric inside your head tends to lean towards the negative side? Unfortunately, most of us are often very critical of ourselves and as such, that private internal dialogue we all have running can be the underlying cause of a bad day, so it’s time to make a change!

Start each day by looking at yourself directly in the mirror and saying “I love you”. Add in as many positive comments as you can think of, whether that’s compliments on your gorgeous face or confidence boosting mantras and (here’s the catch) really mean it!

This might feel a little weird at first, but this is one wellness technique that you’ll see and feel making an impact on your life very quickly, so it’s well worth embracing.

Exercise

Waking your muscles up and getting your blood pumping first thing in the morning might sound like horror of all horrors, but you don’t have to do vigorous exercise to achieve an AM buzz.

Yoga is a wonderful way to gently kick your body into gear, with satisfying stretches and calming breath work that can double up as meditation time. We love this ‘Wake Up Sequence” on Living Pretty Naturally:

  1. Start in child’s pose(5 breaths)
  2. Move through Sun Salutation A(4 rounds)
  3. Move through Sun Salutation B(4 rounds)
  4. Rest in Standing Forward Bend (8 breaths) and move through 1 vinyasa flow
  5. Transition into Warrior Iand move through Vinyasa (2 x)
  6. Transition into Warrior IIand move through Vinyasa (2X)
  7. Make your way to the mat and move into Seated Forward Bend
  8. Rest in Corpse Posefor 5 minutes

Many of us are guilty of grabbing a cereal bar on the way to work or skipping breakfast altogether, but this is a habit you should break.
